Salisbury A XV travelled to Bath for their final match of the season against Combe Down 2nd XV.
This was the result Salisbury were hoping for but not the contest that the players nor spectators wished it to be. Both sides were shorn of players through injury and Salisbury were fielding the versatile back row forwards, George Fossey and Will Murley, in the centre.
Salisbury arrived in Wareham knowing that they needed maximum points from their final three matches to stand any chance of overhauling Devizes at the top of the table.
Salisbury made the short trip across the plain for this local derby with added spice as the two sides are locked in close proximity at the top. The visitors knew that a bonus point win would propel them into the top spot if they could stop Devizes picking up two bonus points.
Salisbury flew out of the blocks in their rearranged League game against fourth placed Yeovil.
