Salisbury RFC Girls squad hosted 3 open to all Pitch up and Play sessions on the 20th, 27th and 4th of December. 

Salisbury RFC Girls squad hosted 3 open to all Pitch up and Play sessions on the 20th, 27th and 4th of December.  Flyers were sent out to local schools advertising the events to all rugby abilities and then we had to sit back and wait to see how many, if any, girls would turn up!  Well, I think we can mark it down as a success. Over the 3 weekends, we must have had nearly 50 girls turn up.  All girls were introduced to rugby and with the wonderful support of our regular coaches and some additional coaches, Luke Newton (1st Team Captain) and Lucy, along with One of the local teachers who turned up with a minibus of girls from her school all the girls had a great time.  At the final session, we were very lucky to be visited by local legend, Ex-England Winger, and Red Roses star, Emily Feltham.  Emily joined the coaching team and helped the established U16s squad prepare for their upcoming game against Winchester and helped the new starters pick up a few skills.  In the end, all the girls de-camped to the clubhouse where Emily spoke to the girls about her pathway and life in rugby and answered questions about the injuries she received.  Fingers crossed that some of the new starters return.  If  they do then we are well on the way to having an U14s girls' squad along with our U16s.
