Girls Rugby has lift off

Salisbury Girls played their first fixture for several seasons on Sunday 6th November 2023.

We have been working hard over the last year or so to build their Girls Section.  On the 6th November the U16 squad invited a mixed team from North Dorset, Sherbourne, Swanage and Wareham and Dorchester to play the first match that this age group have played in many years. The girls tackled strongly and accurately, their discipline was superb.  It was a flowing game with first class offloads made possible by the speed of the support players.

Salisbury Director of Youth Rugby, Jason Yarwood, said “I was really impressed, shocked even, to see such a good game of rugby when many of the players have only been playing such a short time together.  We need more fixtures like this to provide  opportunities for the girls to play games.”

The club are always looking for new female players of all abilities from beginner to experienced who are in yr 6 to yr 13 to join our Junior Girls Squad. If you are interested then please come along to Hudson’s Field between 1000-1200 on Sunday mornings.
