SRFC Walking Rugby tournament

29th. April 2023 - 10 clubs from as far afield as Gloucester, Topsham and Esher attended Salisbury RFC’s Walking Rugby Tournament at Castle Road.
Perfect conditions ensured nearly 150 players enjoyed a full afternoon’s play.
This was the second successive spring tournament run by Salisbury RFC and was a sure sign that walking rugby has become another strong element of an already thriving community club.
Walking rugby is a simplified version of Rugby for ex-players, injured players and non-players of all ages, abilities and gender who enjoy an active and passing game using a rugby ball.
Saturday’s tournament comprised two pools of 6 which led to a play-off between the winner of Pool A, Gloucester and Pool B, Salisbury. Salisbury narrowly defeated Gloucester 2 – 1 in a keenly contested match to claim the Pat Clash Trophy.
The success of the day is due to Graham Hillier’s meticulous organisation and the tournament’s referees ably managed by Dave Murley.
