The Centenary Weekend is about to Kick-off

Come and join the festivities at the Club this weekend. Starting Friday evening.......click for details

  • This Friday 2 June from 6pm we have a Ten – a – Side Touch tournament for mixed teams of Vets, Seniors and Colts.  At  the beginning of the evening, around 6.30 pm, the Joe Osmond waking stick will be presented by Marcus Olsen so that we keep Joe’s memory alive.  We aim to kick off the first match at 7pm. The pitch bar (in fact all the bars) will be open and there will be a BBQ after the tournament. Should be fun so try to come along. Free entry!
  • On Saturday 3 June we have our Centenary Gala Dinner from 6.45pm with Nigel Owens as our Guest Speaker and Tim Stimpson as MC. It’s Black tie or Posh Frock and thanks to your support all the tickets are sold. A reminder for attendees: there are reception drinks from 6.45pm, we then have a four course meal in a marquee with Nigel Owens MBE as our guest speaker...and other attractions. After Nigel has spoken, there will be a disco in the Heritage Room until the bar closes at 12.30, so carriages from 12.30 as the evening ends at 1.00am.
  • On Sunday 4 June from 10am we have our Mini and Junior Fun Day with Nigel Owens kindly coming to make some presentations to the players and Freddie Tuilagi will be there too and we are hoping he will be performing a Samoan haka/war dance.  The bars will be open, Neil will be open for business in the clubhouse with an external BBQ and Pete Symonds will be on site with hot food, ice cream and sweets vans. EVERYONE WELCOME.

Throughout our Centenary Year we have been raising money for the RFU Injured Players Foundation (RFUIPF) and we hope to make a substantial presentation to them at the beginning of next season. The RFUIPF support injured players and carry out research into how the game can be made safer. So, please bring along any spare cash for the red RFUIPF collection buckets around the Clubhouse over the weekend.

We have also produced as a memento of our centenary a limited number of special "Salisbury RFC 1923 - 2023" pin badges which will be given to each of the Gala Dinner guests, and will be on sale for £2 at the Club for everyone else over the weekend. They look good.

Look forward to seeing you,

Best wishes,

Richard Larcombe
