Another Good Week for Salisbury Youth Rugby

Youth rugby is developing strongly in Salisbury. It has been a very exciting first three months for the Mike Brown Salisbury Six Form & Wyvern St Edmunds Rugby Academy which has provided an environment for local talent to thrive and enjoy their rugby development. The sky is the limit for these talented lads and that was evident when they celebrated their 3rd win of the season on Wednesday 22 November against an established Brockenhurst College XV, recording an emphatic 29-3 scoreline.

Three wins from four games and a Seven-a-side competition victory under their belts has made for an excellent start and the Academy is looking to build on this throughout the rest of the season. Head coach, James Kaminski is clearly pleased with progress “…the potential is incredible and I’m buzzing to be leading this great group. It’s awesome to be affiliated with Salisbury Rugby Club and have NFU mutual sponsoring us”.

Similarly, Salisbury RFC’s Director of Youth Rugby, Jason Yarwood is excited about the future … “Salisbury RFC are proud and excited to be supporting this fantastic rugby opportunity in the area. With James Kaminski at the helm, and the start they have had, it promises to be a team that will play flowing rugby. What’s more, local children will have less distance to travel if they want to play rugby during their Year 12 & 13 academic years.”

Elsewhere in Salisbury youth rugby, 45 girls from Salisbury and the surrounding area played rugby under lights at Salisbury RFC on Thursday night.  A strong group of 33 players from Bishop Wordsworth’s School joined the U18 team from Salisbury for a series of matches.  Bishop Wordsworth’s A were unbeaten, but the standard of rugby from all teams was impressive, both committed tackling and strong running.  Girls train at Hudson’s Fields on Sundays from 9:50am, and new players are always welcome for a gradual introduction to rugby.
