U15s win cup match v RWB 18th November

Salisbury win at home to remain top of group D. Final score 14-7 to Salisbury. Next cup match is 16th December - away to Marlborough.

The U15s were on the main pitch for their cup match vs RWB on 18th November. Having won their away leg, Salisbury knew that RWB would be looking for revenge so the boys needed to start strong.

The lineout was working well with Ryan and Fraser O'Grady lifting and the safe hands of Danny collecting Bertie’s accurate throw-ins. The scrums were more difficultagainst the big RWB pack and their hooker actively competed. They won one scrum against the head in midfield and their big centre broke the line to reach the Salisbury 22 but a knock on was recovered by Callum K and popped out to Byron who ran 70m for a try under the posts, which he then converted. From the restart, Bertie caught and drove well to set up a ruck. The forwards were integrating well in the back line and the ball went through Seb to Dylan who delivered to Danny and looped round to receive from him again and pass to Byron, who passed out the back door to Callum K. He stepped a player to break the line and there was just the full back to beat. Callum fixed him and delivered a beautifully timed pass to Fraser D, who sped in to score under the posts. 14:0 with only 15 minutes gone.

A period of pressure then followed from RWB, helped out by some penalties from Salisbury
infringements and their pick and drives eventually paid off with a converted try at around the 20
minute mark.

The ball went wide through the hands on both sides and there was sustained pressure from the
forwards on both try lines, but it is a tribute to the defences of both teams that there was no score
for the remaining 40 minutes of the match. Michael sprinted after a Byron clearing kick from inside
our 22 and nailed the receiver on their 22 to force a knock on and set a Salisbury scrum in a good
attacking position. From there Salisbury contained RWB in their own half until full time.

A great, close match of rugby played in the right spirit ending 14:7 to Salisbury, that keeps Salisbury
at the top of Group D. The win on the same day by Trowbridge over Marlborough leaves it all to play
for when Salisbury meet Marlborough on 16th December in their final pool stage match.
