U15s Reach D&W Cup Final
Salisbury 41-0 Dorchester
Salisbury U15s hosted Dorchester in the semi-final of the D&W Cup this morning. Both teams had qualified comprehensively from the Pool Stages and perfect conditions promised a hard, competitive game.
SRFC had their game heads on right from the start and opened the scoring through a typical Carlos K pick-up.. Following some good defensive chase work by Arthur, Chuck crossed the try line again to increase the lead to 10-0. Salisbury kept pressurising any Dorchester ball and Alex B scored a good long range try when he chased a nice box kick. Sam Waters adding the conversion to make it 17-0. The game now was all Salisbury and Oscar Bourne and Charlie Wychary both scored tries to extend the lead to 29-0 at half time.
The second half continued in the same vein with Salisbury dominant for the majority. Perry Sanderson scored a great solo try breaking through the gap after a clever pop pass from Alex B to run half the length of the pitch. Sam W added the 2 to make it 36-0. The game culminated with Harvey Drewett finishing off a flowing back line attack to make it 41-0.
This was a solid team performance with great team discipline. It was fantastic to see so many of the squad who hadn’t been selected supporting their mates from the touchline. Unfortunately, none of the Dorchester players were able to attend the post match meal.
We now move on to the Final on 29 April against Chippenham (date for your diaries). Preparation starts this Wed 28 Feb at training. We have a number of areas to improve, particularly the breakdown area so maximum attendance at training will be appreciated.
Finally, many thanks to Claire Oliver (and Trafalgar School) for organising the alternative playing strip. Well done everybody!
Tries - Alexander Bairstow, Harvey Drewett, Karl Canotomatoes (2), Perry Sanderson, Charlie Wichary, Oscar Bourneyourneyo
