SRFC Walking Rugby tournament
On Saturday 27th. April SRFC hosted our annual Walking Rugby tournament at Castle Road.
We had hosted what we believe was the first ever Walking Rugby tournament in England, in 2017 under the leadership of Pat Clash. Since then all walking sports have gained in popularity, with Walking Rugby now being played in clubs all over the country.
On Saturday Salisbury fielded two teams, The Bustards and The Spitfires. Nine visiting teams travelled from as far afield as Crediton, Gloucester and Havant.
The action was vigorous and enthusiastic, fortunately the rain held off and Alex the physio didn't have to mend a single injured player.
The Pat Clash Trophy for the tournament winners was presented by Pat's widow Lyn to Salisbury Bustards. Fordingbridge took second place, and also won the Fair Play award, with Gosport & Fareham RFC taking third place.
