Colts storm into semi-finals with commanding victory whilst U14s march into the final with second-half Surge

Colts Storm into Semi-Finals with Commanding Victory
Salisbury RFC Colts delivered a dominant performance in their Dorset & Wiltshire Cup quarter-final clash against Bradford-on-Avon on Sunday, securing a resounding 36-10 victory.

In perfect rugby conditions, the Colts wasted no time in setting the pace. Ben Cunningham-Brown opened the scoring with a well-taken try, converted from a challenging angle by Mica Garvey-Oritz. Bradford-on-Avon responded swiftly, levelling the score, but Salisbury maintained their momentum. Further tries from Junior Makasile and Louis Grosse, along with a Bradford-on-Avon penalty, gave the home side a 17-10 halftime lead.

The second half saw Salisbury assert their dominance. A full set of forward replacements entered the contest without disrupting the team’s flow. With strong territorial control and relentless pressure, the Colts broke down their opponents, racking up 19 unanswered points. Will Barnard shone with two superb tries, slicing through the opposition’s defence, while Garvey-Oritz added another, along with three conversions.

Despite their great determination, Bradford-on-Avon struggled to contain Salisbury’s attack or stress their solid defensive. Salisbury Colts celebrated a well-earned victory and a place in the semi-finals, where they will face Marlborough on Sunday, March 16, in a rematch of last season’s tense showdown.

U14s March into the Final with Second-Half Surge
The future of Salisbury RFC looks bright, as the U14s also secured an impressive victory in their Dorset & Wiltshire semi-final against Bridport. After a tightly contested first half, Salisbury trailed 5-7 at the break.

However, the young side responded with a powerful second-half display. Three unanswered tries turned the game around, sealing a 20-7 win. Salisbury U14s resilience and skill ensured a place in the final, further highlighting the strength of Salisbury RFC’s youth setup.

Sunday was a memorable day for the club, with both teams delivering outstanding performances. As the Colts prepare for their semi-final and the U14s eye cup glory, excitement is building for what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the season.
