U15 V Andover
Salisbury 14-17 Andover
Tries - Harvey Drewitt, Rhino Sainsbury
Conversions - Alex Bairstow (2)
SRFC U15’s welcomed their Hampshire rivals, Andover RFC, to Hudson’s Field for a friendly fixture. A close and competitive first half saw Salisbury go in 7-0 up through a nice individual try from fullback Harvey Drewett when he collected an Andover clearance before running the ball past 3 defenders and cleverly kicking through to collect and score. Alex Bairstow added the conversion.
Andover rallied strongly and scored 2 early tries to take a 12 – 7 lead. They added a third unconverted try with a couple of minutes to go to extend their lead to 17-7. Salisbury fought bravely and sustained pressure paid off with a try by Rhino Sainsbury. Alex B converted to close to within 3 points. Unfortunately time ran out before the boys could rally again but this was a very good game, played in fine spirit between many players who know each other through school. 20+ SRFC players got good game time which bodes well for the second half of the season.
Next week is training with the Cup resuming on 10 December. Good to see so many training points being practised in a match situation but more to do this week. Get ready for some more tackle focus!
